QBO is accessible from anywhere, and can be used by multiple users at the same time.
QBO is not sufficiently mature to replace QB desktop, which i feel Intuit is trying to do. My biggest issue is the lack of backup capability. While QB says they have it backed up, so there is no risk of losing your data, however, bookkeeping often requires the capability to go back to a point in time, or to make a copy of a file for testing purposes, and QBO does not allow that. There are also many small conveniences that are missing QBO. The program works differently in different browsers, with some features not working in all browsers.
QBO provides remote access to my clients accounts.
I only like the ability for online access and nothing else
List is too long... Unreliable/Unpredictable Uptime Lack of features compared to desktop Minimal Reporting functions Disjointed payroll system Random updates that are unnecessary and on and on and on...
None, solved multiple access from anywhere at the cost of hundreds of hours and headaches. Worthless.
At first glance, the UI is very simple, clean and intuitive. We got QBO to be able to help our outsourced accountants properly categorize expenses and send out/track invoices. For these functions, it seems to work fine.
We have been in the stand alone Intuit Online Payroll and thought "Great! Now we can manage accounting and payroll is one centralized place!" Yeah...wishful thinking. Even though IOP and QBO are both Intuit products and the payroll service is virtually identical, there is NO integration of data between them. The only data I can push from IOP to QBO is payroll amounts. I've had to re-enter all employee information from scratch, and two months later, I still haven't been able to setup our payroll taxes as the historical payments cannot be synced. Customer service is EXTREMELY lacking - I usually go straight to live chat. Although the representative try to be helpful, I would say only 1/5 times do they actually solve any of our issues. It's frustrating there is no direct email with a person you've been working with - I've literally chatted to a new person each time and had to explain our situation in detail over and over. I estimate I have wasted 20+ hours of my life on chat/phone alone with no progress to show for it.
They just created more problems, no benefits.
Ability to share data with client and not deal with accountant copies and change files.
Where do I begin? I've been using this product for over a year. About 3 times per month I'm on the phone for over an hour with tech support. What takes me 15 minutes in QB takes 1:15 in QBO. Programmers forgot to add scroll bars when enough data is present. Doesn't seem to be tested for multiple screen resolutions. I have 1080x1920. Their monitors must be bigger.... Difficulty opening multiple windows. Each window times out separately. Not possible to open multiple companies at one time. Payroll has serious limitations. I believe the price is too high for payroll. Limits on the number of categories. Example: If an employee bills at different rates for different job tasks. It cuts off at 10. From what I can see this is across all employees, not just per employees. That is too say I can't have 15 job codes but only assign 10 to any employee. I get 10 across the whole company. Unable to have direct deposit from multiple accounts. I'm too used to the multiple windows in the desktop version. Forward/Back in a browser is the wrong thing to due in QuickBooks Online.
Had client that needed mobile access and wanted to pay vendors directly while they were on the job site(s).
They try to make it as difficult as possible to get any help with this program. Half of the online help I have tried to use is completely wrong on what I should see on my screen. It will tell me to click on employees in the navigation bar and then click on the employees name and then finally click on PROFILE. THERE IS NO PROFILE!!! HORRIBLE PROGRAM! STAY AWAY!

I'm trying to use this program as my payroll tax provider but it is proving to be a huge challenge.
Access the software from anyway across multiple platforms. Might be good if you are starting from zero/ground up.
No way to transfer data effectively from any other method. Forced to reenter payroll data, link credit card information again. Non-intuitive interface... hard to match up transactions.
Needing to get off of a windows based machine onto a mac that was desired. However, QBO won't just not work on a mac but just plain doesn't work.
Great idea if online features were the sane as the desktop version.
Can't split a payment received. Simple basic function of receiving payments and online version won't allow it. I need to expense my merchant account fees from PayPal payments and it won't allow it. Leaves an unpaid balance...looks like my customer still owes money. The support staff is clueless and only wants to sell me credit card processing. I was interested in processing CC's through QuickBooks, but I also need to accept PayPal and need to expense the merchant acount fees, not leave an unpaid balance in my customer's account. Frustrated that I wasted 2 hours of my day on this after the sales rep assured me that all functionality would be exactly the same as my desktop version.
Hoped to benefit but was a big waste of time.
Nothing. There is so many problems with this software its unusable.
The customer service is horrible. The program has so many flaws but when you call to get the problem corrected it's a nightmare. We have been transferred four times on one call to try and fix and issue that was supposedly corrected already. I wish I would have read these reviews before I purchased it. I would never have changed from the windows version.
None. We have spent countless hours and productivity to try and have these issues corrected. Run from this company as fast as you can.
Nothing, complete waste of time and money.
After hours of help with a QB online consultant, the two of us were never able to connect the account to the bank account. I called the bank, but that too was a dead end. Determined to get it to work, I continued to attempt the connection every few days, as I was told by QB there must be a glitch in the system since I kept receiving the message to "try again later." By the time I gave up, my credit card had been charged for another month. When I called to cancel and get a refund (as promised), I was not refunded the tax portion of the charges "per QB's policy". Not only did I lose valuable time trying to use the QB service, I was forced to pay tax on a service I never actually used.
N/A
Not a good word to say about QuickBooks Online I'm afraid. Oh, maybe the colours - they're pretty I suppose.
Having used both QuickBooks and Xero, it's very clear that QuickBooks is millions of years behind in terms of the platform. Bankfeeds are terrible - they actually lied about which banks they supported and I only discovered they don't support my own bank (HSBC, Europe's largest bank for goodness sake!) AFTER I had started using the product and closed down my old Xero account. They have only 'partial' support for HSBC it turns out! They also don't support banks which use two-factor authentication - so if you're one of many bank account holders that use a token, code or otherwise, again - rule these guys out. Xero solve this by working directly with such banks to get a separate feed that doesn't rely on the online banking systems.
Accounting for an SME.
It's connected to this great new thing called "the cloud". It's like amazing, you can use a computer to actually like go through the internet and see your data.
The fact that Intuit seems to hire the most dumb ass developers in the market to help them design and build their platforms. I guess the main complaint is this thing is SLOW THAN A DEAD TURTLE.
Um, it like let's me keep track of sales and reconcile the checking balance.
Nothing. their system is now terrible for my business.
Everything. I just paid $800 for a three license QB Pro 2013 in November. Now in August they cancel my mobile access apparently trying to push me to QB Online. I tried out QB online, its like a childs game. None of the major features from QB 2013 Pro. I can't even customize an invoice or PO layout template. The five pre selected templates given are embarrasing!
Their idiotic changes are causing major headaches for me and my business!
being able to access my Quickbooks file from anywhere online
Everything gets screwed up when transferring to and from Quickbooks Online. Missing invoices, sales tax changes, all items get converted to services, etc. This is only the beginning of what i have discovered is screwed up... Shaking my head right now...
I have realized it was a HUGE mistake to try quickbooks online..
Nothing. There is no part of this upgrade that I see as an improvement on the earlier, easy to use version.
Everything. They made it more cumbersome, made it harder to find things, and generally screwed up an easy to use product.
No benefits from this upgrade.
Nothing! Nothing! Nothing! The new quickbooks is a mess and everyone is complaining
Nothing is intuitive. I cannot figure our how to print invoices or checks. There is nothing in the tutorial videos that explain how to print. 30 minute telephone wait time for support.
Simple accounting
It's a shame, the program is not bad for our needs HOWEVER, I was constantly charged for payroll when I did not order that all I wanted was online essentials, had to call 2x to get it removed from billing took over an hour to do that because they kept transferring me ! Spoke to 4 people!
CUSTOMERS service is a disaster ! The software is not too bad but I feel like they are trying to steal money from me by sneaking in a charge for something I have made VERY clear I do not want!
accounting
Noting , there is no improvementttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
This version lacks many basic features, seems team were forced to release a new version before they carefully consider options, they were many features available in the previous version that just dispappeared 1. There is no way you can find out how much you are going to collect in future , e.g next month 2. Recurring templates are not connected to clients anymore and moved somewhere else. .....
We have over 1000 clients and need to deal with their payment
Loved the old online format and have been a nine year user
The whole layout is not user friendly. The functions don't work on a tablet either. Getting in touch with support takes hours,
Wasting time with this product
The only nice thing I can say about the new Quickbooks Online UI is that the design team did a decent job. Not a stellar one since I could be on just about any new site and see the same font/basic layout.... but a decent job.
Everything else is a nightmare. The navigation is not intuitive at all especially if you are a seasoned Quickbooks user, a financial professional. Many of the short-cuts I used to use when doing my data entry now do not work since QB now creates a large drop down menu to help you find what you should already know is there. And, what's worse is it is slower overall. As if that isn't bad enough, when you do have a question about where to find the most basic of features, you'll find the help forum littered with unsatisfied users and not even the slightest whiff of a solution. Everything requires multiple clicks and some of the old standard features are now so buried in new lingo its nearly impossible to find what you're looking for unless you accidentally stumble upon it. This is worse than when my grocery store decided to do a redesign; it took a while to get used to but you could always find the essentials like the dairy aisle, produce, and deli...
I solved many problems when we originally implemented Quickbooks Online. It isn't as robust as some of the desktop versions but I was able to edit the chart of accounts to make it work for all of our finance needs and have access wherever, whenever. NOW, with the redesign the only benefits I have realized are frustration at having to take three hours to try to figure out how to print checks only to have them totally misaligned (still without a solution) and additional time spent at the office doing data entry that now takes a good 25% longer (effectively cutting my hourly rate.)
There is nothing that I like about QBO.
For two weeks I have been on the phone with Quick-books online trying to set up this account correctly. All my data transferred with out a hitch. However, connecting the existing merchant accounts and electronic payment transfers have and still are a nightmare. I have been bounced around between each entity: QBO, merchant services, go payment, electronic bill payment, etc. Nobody has been able to help me get my payment options completed. They are suppose to be making it easier for me to be able to run my small business, but they have not. All this switch has done is cost me time, energy, and patience.
A more efficient billing process to free me up to built my business, however it has done nothing but cost me time, energy and money to fix this problem. There are no benefits in using this product. I am actually in the process of transferring my records back to the desktop version.
I don't know, I can't get access because there is no support on the weekend. I would like to have tried it, but can't!
There is virtually no support on the weekend. I have had QB in the past and evidently there have messed up my userid/password and they are not around to help AT ALL. I decided to try QB again because the idea of using it online sounds great. But if you can't get access to it, what good is it.
I am told that my email is in use and can't use it. When I tried another email address, it said it didn't match the order email. And there is no help. After telling me this, when I tried to get my userid, I was informed that they didn't have the email that they just told me was already in use!
Easy to buy and it's very affordable. But that's about it.
I tried switching to QuickBooks a while back and was quickly frustrated. You have to be a CPA to implement it. I am a SMB, and I like to do these things myself. Also, I had some major difficulties importing clients from another platform
