It's easy to use. Their support is fantastic if you ever need them. Very responsive and friendly via email, which is a huge plus for me professional.
There was some downtime, not excessive. It did not affect me personally, but I heard about it.
For me, good benefits from being easy to use and having transactions occur electronically without outside accounting help.
The interface is very simple and it means I spend very little time logging time, listing expenses and invoicing.
It is not very clear how deposits are handled. I've managed to deal with this manually. I also wish it had an automatic way to calculate mileage expense. I like math, but not that much.
I send out invoices to clients monthly. I usually spend maybe 5 minutes each. It also makes tax time much easier
The ease of creating/sending invoices. The ability to pull reports for an individual company's invoice and readily see that revenue stream.
Currently, not much I don't like. I wish I could add my cell to my banner on invoice.... Can't see to get that field to show.
My old way of creating invoices was with a spreadsheet, so I look much more professional and since client names are still in the system, if I'm adding additional payments, I just type the name in and it fills in most of the info I need.
Easy to use & duplicate items. UI & Dashboard are excellent. Easy to archive/delete clients temporarily and re-add if needed. It's nice for also tracking if a client has opened the invoice or not.
The payment situations need a bit of tweaking. It sounds like they are making some upgrades there.
Easy and quick invoicing & payment system.
I love the ease of use. I'm not a skilled accountant at all and FreshBooks makes me feel like an accounting pro who knows what's up. It puts everything I need into one place: expenses, reports, invoices, clients, projects, timekeeping, the whole shebang. The best thing about Freshbooks is that it was easy to set up. Within a day I had my bank hooked up. Within a month I had all my bank transactions for the previous year imported into the tool and categorized perfectly. It's easy to access both at work and on-the go. I love the app, it's so helpful when one of my clients has a question and I don't have immediate access to my desktop. I also truly appreciate how easy it is to manage clients, project categories, etc.
With regard to expenses, I sometimes have to go through and re-categorize my expenses because they were inaccurately labeled. The expense tool can be a little glitchy sometimes. For example, when I change a vendor name or an expense category for an item or a group of similar items, I sometimes have to do it twice to make sure it's been done.
Disorganization and expense tracking are two of the biggest issues I've been able to address with FreshBooks. Aside from that I appreciate the recurring invoices as well as the online payments. It cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend on billing clients each month and it also cuts down on bank trips.
I really love the simplicity and clarity of the interface, which facilitates my being able to get what I need out of this accounting package.
There were a couple of updates that fooled me at first. And early on, the product didn't support an ad hoc invoice. But now it does.
Freshbooks has provided a way for me to easily track my time while working on various clients' projects and then to provide detailed invoices showing how I spent that time. I never get questions about my work, because the invoices show what I've done and the value I've provided. Freshbooks allows me to manage projects for two separate small businesses, one in technology consulting and one in jazz education and performance. It's flexible enough to handle the needs of both of these areas.
The best part about FreshBooks is the recurring invoice feature and the automated invoice reminders! I also love the proposals and ability to convert an accepted proposal to an invoice in one click!
I would like to see more data on the dashboard and/ or data presented differently... monthly revenue in a bar graph vs continue line graph; year over year comparison; view of top line vs bottom line sales with a check box. Also, I'd like to able to convert an accepted proposal to a recurring invoice, not just a one-time invoice.
Greatly simplifies my accounting and cuts my accounting time drastically.
Freshbooks makes it easy. Everything is extremely clear and easy to follow, even for a first-time business owner, which I am.
Honestly, nothing. I've never had a problem, and the few times I've reached out to customer support they've been wonderful.
My financed are organized all year, so come tax time, there's no additional work I need to do.
Freshbooks doesn't carry the cruft and legacy needs of Quickbooks' user interface. I feel like when it was designed they asked themselves "What do free-lancers and small businesses need most?" and then designed the user interface around those tasks. The built in payment integrations work great and I like that we still have the option of integrating with Square and Stripe if desired. The best feature has just been automating our invoicing so that payments are received in a more timely manner.
I don't like that it costs extra to save a credit card for a client on file to run each months invoices against. To be clear our clients can save credit cards online so they can review and pay invoices without having to go find a credit card but if our contract says they will be charged $XX.xx a month we have to pay extra to run that transaction automatically against a stored credit card.
The problem that we moved to Freshbooks to solve was streamlining our invoicing, expense tracking, and tax prep. We setup all invoices that are recurring to go out on a schedule without the need for anyone person to go do that task meaning invoices go out quicker and we get paid sooner as a result. The mobile app has made expense tracking much simpler since we can do it in the field now whereas before it was a long end of week process to input everything.
FreshBooks has saved me hundreds of hours over the course of the 8 or so years I've been using it. It makes it easy for me to create, send, and keep track of invoices, and also easy for my clients to pay online via credit card or bank transfer.
I have one client who's had a consistent problem:if she pays by credit card one month, her card is automatically charged a month later for the next invoice. I have to manually delete her credit card number each time she pays, so that it isn't automatically debited again.
I issue a lot of recurring invoices for Web hosting. Depending on the client, they go out monthly or every 3, 6, or 12 months, and I have several dozen clients' payment schedules to keep track of. FreshBooks makes it VERY easy to create these invoices automatically at the correct intervals.
