XERO (even for a farmer like me) made my accounting work Easy and Fun yes fun because it's simple and laid out with the user in mind. So you don't need a degree in accounting just common sense. But don't take my word for it, just try it out, but i am sure that within one hour you see the value.

I basically like everything, so far no complain.

It doesn't solve a problem, it's just that before XERO we had to spend much more time on bookkeeping using spreadsheets etc. so XERO made life easier and save's time and it is really pleasant to work with.

Ease of use. For basic functions there is no need to go through a long set up process.

Some functionality beyond the basic is a little convoluted to get to, and whilst some reports are set up in a handy style for the technicalities of accounting, they are slightly too complex and technical for a causal user who just wants to see a bit of BI.

Accounting for a small business. saves a lot of time and confusion over a manual process.

Managing business accounts and compliance.

So, it's probably a bit of a stretch to say it's beautiful but it is extremely clean and easy to use. The interface is simple and intuitive, making using Xero extremely easy. Not only that, but the bank feeds make reconciling bank accounts a breeze. It's well equipped too, coming with the usual array of accounting features such as balance sheet & profit and loss, and also management reports & budgeting. You can also use tracking and extra invoicing details to help create a wealth of important information you can use to run your business. Finally, the clincher for me is the wealth of products that integrate in with Xero which provide a huge array of linked options for running your business, without re-keying data, which is a key time save for any small business.

As highlighted by another use, journals aren't particularly well provided for. In addition, wages in the UK can't be used to submit anything to HMRC as they require & finally the integrations are often a one way affair which means that they aren't perfect, Xero needs to work more closely at working back with other providers.

As an accountant, we need to be able to recommend simple & effective software to our clients, and Xero is perfect for this.

Easy to use, easy to start, the company is international and growing, and the user fee is extremely cost effective and competitive! We have been on Xero Accounting for 5+ years (before anyone in the USA even knew about them)... and I use it for my four businesses, and we are excited to convert to their payroll program shortly here in Colorado, which is also included with their base pricing. Once that is completed - what we will save on automated payroll processing (through intuit) more that pays for all four business licenses! I'm VERY IMPRESSED with both the product, up-time, simplicity of use, the continued upgrading of the product, as well as the company. I'm now trying to figure out how to invest in these guys from NZ, since their company growth rate exceeds 75% and they now have over 1/2 million small business users worldwide.

Nothing - everyone in the company is extremely responsive, there is xero (pun intended) down time, and the bank feeds are an amazing time saver on reconciliation.

Save time - which is the most valuable resource in a consulting business.

The interface is easy to use and intuitive. Reporting is average in the base, but can definitely be improved through leveraging one of the marketplace products. The marketplace which has many options to meet vertical and general business needs is strong. There are many add-on solutions available with more being added as Xero continues to grow in popularity. As an accountant I definitely prefer Xero over QBO at this point.

As has been mentioned by other users, the journal updating process can be a bit tedious. However, my experience has been that Xero has been willing to listen to their users and I suspect this will be addressed. The reporting leaves room for improvement, but like I stated above, there are numerous tools available in the marketplace that offer great options.

We are using Xero internally to manage many of our accounting client's needs. After going through trials of both QuickBooks Online I feel that Xero provides for a smoother and 'friendlier' process for us and our clients. Integrating with other business critical applications has been awesome! The amount of time savings alone through integrations with payroll and POS systems has been substantial.

I am saving myself time, and I feel it is much easier to set budgets and keep a track on my income when using Xero.

There are a lot of things I love about Xero. From the ability to do everything from my phone, to the way it integrates so easily with our POS, to how it'll work once we switch our payroll over to a better provider. The few times I've needed to get support from them they've been fantastic, and the community is great. Each section also has a "Help" link that goes directly to the online help for that section. I can't even begin to count how much time Xero has saved me. I genuinely wish I had more time just so I could spend more time working in Xero.

Wish our "small town bank" played nicer.

I wear many hats in our business. From CFO to HR to Customer Service to Baker to Buttercream Maker to Gopher. Add in the Husband and Dad hats and you're left with little to no time. With Xero by the time I get home I don't have to worry about the accounting. I'm able to do it from my phone while I'm in line getting a coffee, or waiting for an oven timer to go off.

Xero Accounting has seamless integration with Google Apps signin and the Google ecosystem. It sets you up with the most common defaults so you're in the software and using it quickly.

Not having enough time to actually use the software! They make it pretty easy to manage finances that you're in and out so quickly. The interface is a little spartan and dated, and I wish you could do a tad more visual branding in the dashboard so the internal staff are working with my brand represented better, but it's workable.

In this case, what would take expensive software and lots of staff training, I can now delegate to my bookkeeper offsite or onsite and the work gets done, with the reporting fed back to me in a format so that I can make good business decisions.

I like the fact that I don't have to rely on an accountant or an accounts person to do my accounts. Xero makes it easy for a small business like mine to comply and complete the necessary accounting functions from any where and I mean anywhere! I often reconcile my accounts lying in bed on my iphone.

Not much to dislike really it's easy to use and provides me with great reporting on where my business is at financially very quickly and easily.

I'm solving the problem of preparing and running my businesses accounts and Xero is making it easy for me.

Mobility is the Number one reason why I moved over. I was a QuickBooks user for years but having to run an application on a local PC just became too inconvenient. I love being able to anything from anywhere on any device!

The Dislike is a bit more difficult to nail down. In the beginning of the product it was the fact the Payroll was not included. Now they have that so it is a full package.

The fact that I can create invoices or record expenses anywhere at any time solves my biggest Problem. Setting time aside to do it. This had made me much more efficient and completely revised my business processes.

The automatic imports of bank & credit card feeds keep all of our transactions in Xero automatically. The rules for similar transactions are easy to set up and make maintaining our books as easy as the click of a button. All of the built-in reports help us always stay up to date on cash flow and balances.

Nothing comes to mind here... it's honestly incredibly easy to use and way more flexible than the alternatives on the market.

We've been able to keep all of our bookkeeping in-house and rarely have to import/upload transactions, plus everything's always up to date with the automatic feeds and rules. Xero saves me several hours every month and eliminates the thousands of dollars we'd be spending on a bookkeeper.

I switched from Quickbooks because Xero is online. Since then I've grown to love many other things compared to Quickbooks. Bank feeds make data entry minimal and bank recs easy. Xero is rapidly growing and improving. Some features were limited a few years ago when I first starting using it, but the software is steadily improving. It gives me confidence to keep using it even if there are some short-term drawbacks. It runs extremely fast and is easy to use. The functions are intuitive and don't require extensive training to figure out. I like the integrations with other software. With some companies we use Unleashed Software for inventory and order management, and the integration with Xero works well.

The reporting could be improved, which I know they are working on. Ability to customize is limited. The cash flow statement is terrible. For one company we go through a lot of extra work to prepare financials just because we need to prepare a better cash flow statement in Excel. The Global version doesn't have check printing capability, which is a large drawback. You can't batch pay invoices that aren't in the functional currency. It isn't a huge deal, but it takes extra work to pay individual bills and to reconcile separate payments in Xero with one payment in the bank account.

It is great for small companies because it is cost-effective and easy to use. It's core function is limited to basic accounting - bank accounts, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and reporting. It does integrate with other specialized software for inventory and order management, CRM, etc, but large companies might prefer all-in-one software like Netsuite or SAP.

Business software is the backbone of any company or organization. Deciding on the best solution can be nerve-wracking, as you can end up staking your reputation and the health of the business on your decision. Not making the right decision can result in dire consequences. Unfortunately some of you reading this know exactly what I mean. You want to make sure you've allied yourself with the smartest, best software designers from the very beginning that ultimately help make things easier instead of harder. Fortunately, you can find that solution by signing up with Xero. Xero has been often referred to as the 'Apple of accounting', which is honestly fair. And if you're not an Apple person, that's okay because it's not platform specific. It works on your PC, your Mac, your Ubuntu laptop, your Android tablet, and your oversized iPhone - it's integrated. What you get when you decide to utilize Xero is a collaborative tool, brilliantly designed with unlimited users for about $30-$70/month, depending on your needs. In terms of pricing there isn't an outrageous flat fee that is typically bundled with ERP solutions. So, that means that you pay as you go and as long as you're happy with the system. It's unique in terms of the level of customization. They have a marketplace for something called 'Add Ons', which are intended to help you tailor the system to your specific needs. It's very similar to an App Store with Add Ons being like Apps tailored to your business. Run a T-shirt company? There's an Add On for that. Run a plumbing business? There's an Add On for that too. Perhaps the best aspect of the software is something very simple - it's on the cloud. Sometimes this can concern business leaders as it means you're using the big, scary internet to handle your accounting. But, it's worth keeping in mind that your bank is on the cloud too. And Xero's security measures are the same if not better, and their track record shows this. The real benefit of having your system on the cloud, however, is that your entire team is exactly on the same page. Xero started as a company with this in mind from the outset. In the past as an Accountant, I used to be constantly asked if I could create an invoice or whether it had been paid. With Xero I don't really get asked these questions because our team has access to the system and can look the items up themselves. And it helps give departments agency in terms of billing, because it means that they don't have to completely rely on the Accounting Department for their work. Also, working on the cloud means that there isn't a file to send your CPA. You end up looking at the same financials and are able to collaborate real time with your business advisors and partners. In short, Xero made my life easier and became like a valued advisor. It guides you in terms of getting your company up and running, and can go toe to toe with most ERP's. And, most importantly, it's able to accommodate a quickly growing company. Steve Jobs once said that most accounting software is designed to leave people confused - if finance is complicated, certainly the software should be complicated too. The complete opposite is the case here - clear, understandable, insightful, useful. Highly recommended.

P.O. functionality and reporting could be a bit better, but they're working on it. If you aren't familiar with pivot tables, it can be a bit more effort to get the information you need. However, if you are familiar with pivot tables the world is your oyster. It's not necessarily for everyone. Some people can't think differently from Quickbooks. And that's okay. But, those who are more tech-oriented and grew up with all things internet will feel more at home here.

If you've ever reconciled a bank account before you know what a cumbersome horrible process it usually is. Where Xero really excels is in terms of design. Any designer's first itch is to take the worst part of a problem and really tackle it. What they've done with the reconciliation process is truly incredible. Xero predicts your transactions and lines them up for you. What results is what's been called the gameification of business software. Instead of it being a chore it becomes almost alarmingly fun. And it results in knowing exactly where you are in terms of your financial status. Most other accounting solutions present the idea of a dashboard, but don't deliver. You see pie charts and graphs, but they're not really useful. It's like a false promise - this looks really cool and we know that it should work this way, but we don't know really how to do that. With Xero they excel at it and the dashboard becomes completely interactive so that you're able to drill down and see the exact transaction that's at the heart of an issue. Even better, you're able to edit it on the spot. So, with good design comes the awareness of what's going on. And in terms of accounting I really believe that's the whole point. You're supposed to know where things are and report on where they went. Xero empowers that.

Firstly, I am a small, Australian business owner (turnover less than $1m) and I previously used MYOB. Unfortunately MYOB is not overly user friendly and therefore I employed a Bookkeeper, primarily to do our quarterly BAS. This obviously lead to increased costs. Since using Xero and gaining a small amount of training, I am not completely all invoicing, receiving and BAS accounting requirements myself. In addition to this, the way in which the auto-bank feeds work and matching of transactions is a breeze. Reports in Xero also make life a lot easier. They allow my accountant to very quickly produce require reports including Profit & Loss etc. Although this is available through MYOB, it is not as easy to use. Also in our business we exclusive use Apple products and I have found no integration issues with Safari or other browsers. Xero also has an iPhone App however it's current features are quite limited. I don't tend to use to much currently however may look at it again next Quarter.

I honestly haven't yet found an issue. That said, I don't currently use the Payroll component nor need to worry about currency conversion.

Saving of time and money is a huge benefit. I was also paying $58/month with MYOB but only $50/month with Xero. As opposed to employing someone to manage the accounting of my business, I can do some of it myself. It is important to note that during setup and for some parts of the business account, an accounting professional is required. I don't believe this is a product that will allow you to completely disengaged with an accountant (and nor should it).

Fantastic Product, I love the dashboard I can quickly reconcile transactions, see what current bill I need to pay and also see where we are at on invoicing potential members. I oversee the accounting effort for two non-profits, One is on Xero the other on Quickbooks. I have to say for me Xero just feels more natural for running your business. It also feel more polished.

I love to see a forecasting tool built into the tool.

I was looking for system to run accounting system that is cloud hosted so I can work with my distributed team.

I love how easy Xero is to use. I can work with my clients in real time, easily enter data with bank feeds, integrate software applications to further build out my software, and the pricing is very competitive. As an accountant with over 100 clients, switching to Xero has saved our company time, money and so many headaches. We are so happy that we switched over from Quickbooks and plan on only taking Xero clients moving forward.

There isn't anything I dislike about Xero. Any special features that I require are available via SaaS integration and will likely become a native feature as people show an interest.

As an accountant user I had to get all of my clients onto one platform that is easy to use, beautifully designed and cost effective. I was able to reduce my overhead, take on additional clients, and save our existing clients money. I wish I would have switched to Xero when it first became available to the US Market.

XERO is user friendly. You can tell that the developers are passionate about creating the best experience. Constant upgrades shows that they are not a one trick pony. Perfect for many small businesses.

Payroll has some issues regarding assigning checks. No support for local submittal of tax forms

Simplifying our process of recording. Having accurate up to date books. Our book keeper is more proficient on XERO and has reduced the amount of hours spent on accounting.

We like the daily bank and credit card feeds, the cloud platform, the mobile device access, and the dashboard that can be customized. I also like the fact that the add on's are available for many different scenarios should we need them.

I do not like the fact that you can not call into a technical support person while you are in the middle of an issue. I am just learning Xero and do have questions from time to time. I can get answers to my questions, but it would be an improvement if I could talk to someone live while I am working on my issue.

I am more current with my books than I have ever been. The bank feed helps me to stay current with my bookkeeping. It is also very easy to do.

Xero is so easy to use yet because of its single ledger it can be shared with business associates and outside professionals. I also like the fact that it connects with so many other cloud solutions that help us run our operations. The unlimited users is beneficial especially because they do not cost additional each month.

Have not found anything I dislike. I would like for the US Based Payroll for all States to be available sooner

I have been using Xero for about 2 years now without any hassle. It was implemented into our business without too many hitches and we had great support from the official Xero partner in Northern Ireland, Xero's Simplicity makes life easy, Its easy to upload and import new invoices, you can see who you need to pay and when so its fantastic for sorting out payments and it makes reconciling your bank accounts easy!! Its also great the way you can either link it to your bank where possible or simply upload bank statements in an excel file. It also makes tracking who you paid, when you paid and searching for past payments.

Xero's biggest issue is that is doesn't yet automatically tie in with all banks so we currently have to upload our bank statements on to an excel and then upload them to xero, but once they are up there it's fine, you just need to make sure your not uploading any duplicate lines on your statement.

It is a fascinating finance and accounting tool that has helped me get better results in negotiations and the strong legal components of the accounts have given me more confidence in the accuracy and reliability of the accounts. There is no doubt that Xero is a fantastic program; the accounts are correct. When it comes to managing the finances, it is fantastic.

The tools in the program are disorganized and I think they could be better distributed.

With Xero we have been able to have both simple and complex expense and project management, which simplifies the administration process. With its help, we have been able to perform several fascinating accounting operations. On the money side, we have done very well thanks to our careful planning. This product is fantastic for processing invoices; it is widely used, has a solid foundation and is highly recommended.
