Apollo.io Expert Review

Every paid Apollo.io plan buys credits at almost exactly the same rate — about 51 credits per dollar of annual spend. Basic gives 30,000 credits for $588 a year, Professional 48,000 for $948, and Organization 72,000 for $1,428. The variance across all three is 1.2%. That means upgrading never improves your credit economics, so the only reason to move up a tier is a feature you need — which is a genuinely useful thing to know before a sales call.

  • What it is: An all-in-one sales engagement platform — contact database, sequences, dialler, deal management, and enrichment.
  • Best for: Outbound sales teams who want prospecting data and the tooling to act on it in one subscription.
  • Pricing: Free, Basic $49, Professional $79, Organization $119 per seat monthly on annual billing. Verified July 2026.
  • The honest catch: Organization requires a minimum of three seats, so its real floor is $357 a month.

What Is Apollo.io?

Apollo combines two things most teams buy separately: a B2B contact database and the outbound machinery to work it. You search for prospects, enrich them, sequence them across email and phone, and manage the resulting deals without leaving the platform. Its pricing page groups features into four solutions — Outbound, Inbound, Data Enrichment, and Deal Execution — and states that all tiers include every solution.

Apollo.io’s pricing page with Annual billing selected, showing Free at $0, Basic at $49, Professional at $79 and Organization at $119 per seat per month, each listing an annual credit allowance.

Credits are the meter, and they cover the consumption-based actions: revealing contact details, enriching records, and similar lookups. Everything else — sequences, extensions, deliverability tooling — is gated by tier rather than metered.

How Apollo.io Works

  • Priced per seat, with credits as the usage meter.
  • Paid plans grant credits upfront for the year; the free plan grants them monthly.
  • The credit rate is effectively flat across all three paid tiers.
  • Organization requires three seats minimum.
  • Sequences go unlimited from Basic; free is capped at two.
  • The AI Assistant is marked “introductory free” on every paid tier.

Apollo.io Pricing

Captured from Apollo’s pricing page in July 2026 in US dollars, reading both billing toggles.

Plan Annual Monthly Credits/seat/yr Granted Seats
Free $0 $0 900 Monthly 1+
Basic $49 $65 30,000 Upfront 1+
Professional $79 $99 48,000 Upfront 1+
Organization $119 $149 72,000 Upfront 3 minimum

Bar chart showing Apollo’s credits per dollar of annual spend: 51.0 on Basic, 50.6 on Professional and 50.4 on Organization — effectively flat.

What actually decides your plan:

  • Upgrading does not buy you cheaper credits. Basic is 51.0 credits per dollar, Professional 50.6, Organization 50.4 — a 1.2% spread. If a sales conversation frames a higher tier as better value on data volume, the published numbers do not support it. Choose your tier on features: A/Z testing and call recordings at Professional, intent data, API enrichment, and automated workflows at Organization.
  • Paid credits are granted upfront for the whole year. That is a real and unadvertised advantage. A team running a heavy Q1 campaign can spend most of its annual allowance in January rather than being rationed to a twelfth each month. The free plan does the opposite — 900 credits a year granted monthly, so 75 a month, which is roughly two or three lookups a day.
  • Organization’s three-seat minimum makes its floor $357 a month. That is $4,284 a year before anything else, so the step from Professional is far larger than $40 a seat suggests for a small team.
  • The free plan is a demo, not a tool. Two sequences, a five-chat limit on the AI assistant, basic filters, and 75 credits a month. It is enough to see whether Apollo has the contacts you need and nothing more.
  • The AI Assistant is “introductory free” on all paid plans. It appears as a listed feature with that label, which means it is not currently charged and may be later. Worth asking what it will cost before you build a workflow around it.
  • The 24% annual saving applies to Basic only. Basic is $65 monthly against $49 annually — 24.6% — but Professional ($99 to $79) and Organization ($149 to $119) both work out at about 20%. The badge reads “SAVE 24%” without an “up to”.

Who Should Use Apollo.io

  • Outbound sales teams. The clearest case — database, sequencing, and dialling in one place removes two vendors.
  • Startups building a first sales motion. Basic at $49 with 30,000 credits and unlimited sequences is a complete outbound stack.
  • Teams doing bursty campaigns. Upfront annual credits suit concentrated prospecting far better than monthly rationing.
  • Companies wanting intent data. Organization’s 12 intent topics and intent filters are the reason to reach that tier.

It fits poorly for teams that only need contact data, where Hunter’s unlimited seats are cheaper; for enterprise account-based programmes, where ZoomInfo’s depth justifies its cost; and for small teams eyeing Organization, given the three-seat floor.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • A genuinely all-in-one platform — data, sequences, dialler, and deals.
  • Annual credits granted upfront, which suits campaign-shaped work.
  • Unlimited sequences from Basic, not reserved for higher tiers.
  • Deliverability suite and email warmup included from the entry paid plan.
  • A permanently free tier for evaluating the database.
  • Transparent credit allowances, published per tier.

Limitations

  • Upgrades do not improve the credit rate — flat at ~51 per dollar.
  • Organization needs three seats, a $357 monthly floor.
  • The free plan’s 900 credits a year is about 75 a month.
  • Per-seat pricing adds up quickly against seat-free competitors.
  • The AI Assistant is only “introductory free”, with no published future price.
  • The 24% annual claim holds on Basic only; the other tiers save about 20%.

Apollo.io Alternatives and How It Compares

  • Hunter includes unlimited team members on every plan and charges only for credits, which is structurally cheaper for teams.
  • ZoomInfo is the enterprise standard with deeper data and intent signals, at considerably higher cost.
  • Seamless.AI competes on real-time contact search rather than an all-in-one platform.
  • Lemlist covers the outreach half well and pairs with a separate data source.
  • Clay takes a different approach, orchestrating multiple data providers through a spreadsheet interface.
  • Outreach and Salesloft are the enterprise sales-engagement incumbents, without Apollo’s bundled database.

For a broader survey, browse our sales engagement directory.

The Verdict

Apollo’s appeal is consolidation. Buying a contact database, a sequencing tool, and a dialler separately costs more and creates handoffs, and Apollo does all three competently from $49 a seat with unlimited sequences and a deliverability suite included at the entry paid tier. For a startup building its first outbound motion, that is a lot of stack for the money.

The most useful thing to know before you talk to them is that the credit rate does not improve as you climb. Basic delivers 51.0 credits per dollar of annual spend, Professional 50.6, and Organization 50.4 — a spread of 1.2%, which is noise. Whatever a higher tier is worth, it is not worth it on data volume, so decide between them purely on capability: A/Z testing and call recordings at Professional, and intent topics, API enrichment, mailbox purchasing, and automated workflows at Organization. If you simply need more credits at the same rate, adding a seat does the same job as upgrading.

Two practical notes. Paid credits are granted upfront for the whole year, which is genuinely valuable if your prospecting is campaign-shaped rather than steady, and Apollo does not market it as a benefit at all — the free plan, by contrast, doles out 900 credits across twelve months. And Organization requires three seats, so its real entry point is $357 a month rather than $119; a two-person team wanting intent data will find that gap larger than the per-seat prices suggest. Finally, note that the AI Assistant carries an “introductory free” label on every paid card, which is a feature you are being shown but not permanently sold.

FAQ

How much does Apollo.io cost?

Captured in July 2026 in US dollars: Free at $0, Basic $49 per seat per month billed annually, Professional $79, and Organization $119 with a three-seat minimum. On monthly billing those become $65, $99, and $149. Annual credit allowances are 900, 30,000, 48,000, and 72,000 per seat respectively, with paid plans granting the full year upfront.

Do Apollo’s higher plans include cheaper credits?

No. By our arithmetic from the published figures, Basic works out at 51.0 credits per dollar of annual spend, Professional at 50.6, and Organization at 50.4 — a spread of just 1.2%. Upgrading buys features such as A/Z testing, call recordings, intent data, and API enrichment, not better credit economics. If you only need more credits, adding a seat achieves the same rate.

How are Apollo’s credits granted?

Paid plans grant the full annual allowance upfront, so a team can spend heavily in one month rather than being limited to a twelfth at a time. The free plan grants its 900 annual credits monthly instead, which works out at 75 a month. For campaign-shaped prospecting the upfront grant is a meaningful advantage, and Apollo does not highlight it on the pricing page.

Does Apollo.io have a seat minimum?

The Organization plan requires a minimum of three seats, making its real floor $357 per month on annual billing rather than the $119 shown. Free, Basic, and Professional have no stated minimum. For a small team wanting Organization’s intent data and automated workflows, that minimum is a larger consideration than the per-seat price difference.

Apollo.io or Hunter?

They are priced on opposite principles. Apollo charges per seat and bundles a large database with sequencing, dialling, and deal management. Hunter charges only for credits with unlimited team members on every plan, and is narrower — email finding, verification, and outreach. For a five-person team needing the full outbound stack, Apollo is the more complete tool; for the same team needing contact data and email, Hunter is structurally cheaper.

What do you like best about Apollo.io?

I like it when you get notified when people open the emails you sent. You know right away that they already seen the content of the email and you can plan ahead of time what might be your next step.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

I like everything about it. I only disliked that even if you are the one who opened it, You will also get notified that your email was accessed. If you are the one that opened the email, it should not pop up as someone opened your email.

What do you like best about Apollo.io?

I don't like anything about Apollo. They were a disappointment from beginning to end. My hope is that they get absorbed by a larger company that actually knows what they're doing and can integrate with the necessary systems to be an effective data provider.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

How much time do you have? Their integration with Salesforce doesn't respect sharing settings, allowing end users to "steal" records that they shouldn't own. They also have 0 understanding of how to manage duplicates. Whatever engine they use (which they won't reveal or discuss in detail) to identify duplicates flat out does not work. Every interaction with a Contact record ends up creating duplicate records over 90% of the time, cluttering our system. Not only will I never use them again, I will actively steer other colleagues from even entertaining the idea of using their application if I can.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

They solve no problems. They create a ton of problems. They are the definition of poor management and poor development combined into one cluster of an organization. The fact that they make any money at all is astounding to me.

"Troublesome platform, difficult to scale & poor support"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Apollo provides reliable data for prospects we want to go after and integrates with Linkedin Sales Navigator.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

We constantly experience glitches such as the dialer freezing, data not writing back to SFDC, unable to add more than one prospect into a sequence, list & sequences not appearing in the plug-in, current clients not being excluded from sequences even though the rule is set up, tasks being assigned to users at 1am & 2am not following sequence rule sets. Salesforce integration is poor (activities are not always logged) and current customers are not being excluded from our cadences. (we have the reports built and integrated) The phone dialer is unreliable, freezes and my reps need to restart their computer to get it going again. What’s more frustrating is the responsiveness and sense of urgency from the technical support team. Replies take 2-3 days and it seems that we are running in circles to resolve issues that have been brought up weeks ago. “We will investigate and get back to you” is not what I want to hear over and over again.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are trying to track and grow our SDR organization by increasing their strategic outbound activities but are unable to do so at the moment with Apollo.

"Terrible support, and for unclear reasons they remove functionality over time"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

It *used* to be a great way to pull lists pretty easily.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Apollo has removed functionality over time. Clearly trying to upsell or whatever, but making the product worse, deliberately, is not a winner in the marketplace of ideas. Also, the "support" is profoundly worthless. Replies take days, and often provide zero additional information when they do decide to get back to you. Plenty of competitors out there - stay away from Apollo.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

We explored it as a replacement for ZoomInfo, but at this point even ZI with its flaws is far superior.

"A nice contact discovery and email automation tool with a lot to improve."
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Their browser plugin to find contact information out of a LinkedIn profile. This was the most attractive feature I found, it allows you to save the contact, add a contact to a list, and enroll them in a sequence without leaving the LinkedIn site. The sequences are easy to configure, and the overall experience in enrolling a new contact in a sequence is easy to follow. They allow for contact export, but it has its limits and is understandable, as well as

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Contact update is not available but for the top tear. There is no way to obtain the updated data unless you subscribe to the upper tier. You can manually update the contact, but then you have to source the contact information from somewhere else. They should allow me to initiate a manual update of the contact and discount a contact credit for that, but not allowing me to obtain the updated information is a deal-breaker for me. The email system is basic, they do not offer a graphical email editor. The email format is good for a sales campaign, but not so much for marketing. The sequence reporting is slow (it has improved lately) and is not too intuitive. It usually takes me a couple of clicks to reach the information I need.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

Cold sales email automation, contact information-sourcing out of a profile search, and email sequencing. We have been able to have a balance of manual curating the contacts we want to include in our automation and leave Apollo to do the rest.

"Good tool But not for me"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Easy to log in, had some useful features, but overall it was very clunky and overly complicated and didn't do what I need in a tool for a fast growing sales team that needs a better functioning tool.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

The daily and overall reporting capabilities lacked a lot to desire. As someone that relied on reporting to give feedback to my team it was not the right tool for me at this stage.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was looking for a good lead database and email tool that syncs with the marketing team's needs. Apollo has a decent database and was suitable for what we were doing at the time. As we grew, though, it wasn't a right fit anymore, and that's okay.

"A giant waste of time"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

The UI tricks you into thinking it's easy to use, but anything of use is hidden behind a paywall for 'custom' users

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

On the custom plan, they try to constantly upsell you can't remove features you don't need. You can only add. They offer custom pricing, but when you go to cancel, they'll give you 'professional' for $19 as opposed to $99; the problem is you can't push more than 25 contacts into a 'net new' campaign on professional; you can't enrich data you already have with job changers. Ultimately unless you work within some very clearly defined parameters, you'll find this tool hugely frustrating and a big burn on your time. If you are a small business, steer clear.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

"A pain to use, and basic functionality hasn't worked for the past few weeks"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Identifying people with job changes is the most valuable component. It's why we started with Apollo: to find people who changed jobs in our database.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

--The basic functionality stopped working -- we can't find email addresses for people who changed jobs anymore --The salesforce connectors don't work for our organization -- imports to salesforce fail most of the time --Because imports have failed, I shut off the 'push' settings to send information to salesforce, but Apollo still pushed data to salesforce anyway. It took a lot of conversations to convince the apollo team that this was a severe bug that deserved attention. It's still not fixed. --There aren't enough settings to make imports work automatically for job change alerts. We can't preserve information from an old record onto a new record, for example. That means the process to use Apollo for updates is clunky and 100% manual --It's not possible to export people to SalesLoft cadences directly from their LinkedIn profile, so sales reps choose to use other software for this purpose. In general the email and sequence functionality is too limited to meet our needs

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

Job change alerts are the key for us. When the functionality worked, we got a little value from it.

"Customer service is terrible and over 60% of emails are bouncing!"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Firstly they promise unlimited leads, incredible BUT it is not unlimited okay 10K is fine, but you can only download 25 at a time so spend 1 hour making a list of 2,500 VERIFIED EMAILS but when i ran them through Neverbouce, it turned out 60% of emails was not valid and under 40% was valid. These were emails stated in their filters AS verified! Contacting support, they claim I only get credit back if i email with them, but emailing 60%+ bad emails = spam land so that is a no go. Their support doesn't care at all!. Also asked for a refund they ignore that stating i need to email using their system that then scrape all my data for their DB! again GDPR violation.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Bad data, bad customer support, UI is good though.

"Terrible support, limiting features, old data, and you can't work too fast."
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

It's cheap enough for the price I guess?

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Support ran by untrained low paid workers that give canned, text-book responses about the issues you're having and don't intimately know the software. You are really paying for the lead data because the send software is sorely lacking. But the issue with that is that half of the leads have old data for bounced emails. I took a list from Apollo into a 3rd party email verification system and over half the list was labeled unsendable. The worst part is that even for a paid plan you have to save 25 contacts at a time. If you work too fast doing this you can literally get banned. I got blocked twice and the 2nd time they made me wait 24 hours and claimed they couldn't reset it on their end which I highly doubt.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was trying to get more leads for my business but that clearly didn't pan out as expected.

"Could be really great but falls VERY SHORT - Banned from GMail TWICE"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Apollo's interface is well put together and easy to use. It is effective in many ways that you would like for a sales tool.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

We have been banned from GMail TWICE by using Apollo. The first time, after reactivating our account, we implemented their recommendation, and everything seemed fixed. I even went above and beyond to increase prudent measures (more cautious than their recommendation - increased the time sent between emails and decrease the # of emails sent in a day) after our CEO was thoroughly unhappy that this happened. After implementing these recommendations, things worked well for a month. However, we since have been banned from Gmail a second time, and the only thing the Apollo team could do was provide "another recommendation." Honestly, I wouldn't say I like writing reviews at all, let alone negative ones but, I want this to be out there in hopes that they either fix this recurring issue or help other potential businesses avoid this downfall. Our email sending/deliverability score is drastically diminshed. When paying for a service, mistakes or coughs happen. However, the same mistakes should not happen twice after implementing their recommendation. Use Apollo because it can be a good tool but, be wary because their product isn't mature enough to be great, and you will get banned from your email account.

"My least favorite sales tool"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

Honestly, I cannot think of anything Apollo does that wouldn't be done better by another tool. I've used it for 6 months with continual bugs, slow/unhelpful support responses, and a lack of intuitiveness that makes you feel like you're using a tool built in 1996.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

See above. Slow, clunky, tries to "do it all" and does nothing well. Impossible for AE/SDR pod teams to collaborate, BUGS, emails get sent out with missing images/ugly text, annoying "you have 1087 tasks due today" emails. This tool slows our entire team down.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

This tool creates problems, we've all continued to move to Google Sheets/SFDC but get forced back into Apollo, unwillingly.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

It is awful - contestant overriding of rules and do not prospect accounts being prospected as a result. Breaks down regularly. Credits going up for requiring anything

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

It’s been a good starting point for lead gen but I’m excited to transition to sales loft

"Great star with poor end"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

At first, the system looks great. An impressive number of lead and search options

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Difficult to drill down to find the right lead. A LOT of data is inaccurate and over 30% of emails we sent bounced, as a result, our email domain was marked as a spam email and we don't know how many valuable emails we lost. If you asked to pay for FULL YEAR - DON'T. We stopped using the system after 3-4 months. What a waste of money.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were looking for very specific targets in our lead generation process

"Good idea, poor execution"
What do you like best about Apollo.io?

I like Zenprospect's concept best– being able to filter their database for prospects and add them into contact strategies all at once, not having to go back and forth between different systems.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

Sadly, it's all just a concept, and realistically very poorly built, glitchy software that I can't trust. Emails don't send on time, if at all, the number of contacts within a given filter constantly change or disappear, and the more you use the platform, the more holes you find. The product is very immature. The shortcomings of other tools like Salesloft, Yesware, and Outreach are all negligible compared to Zenprospect's vast inconsistencies and unreliability.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Zenprospect to create filtered lists of contacts to target based on the technologies they are using. It's been beneficial to filter all under one platform as there would be no way to do this on LinkedIn Sales Nav.
