GoToWebinar Pros and Cons
- Hosts automated webinars
- Option to simultaneously host organizers and panelists
- Capable of hosting webcasts
- Provides webinar analytics and exports
- Integration with GoToMeeting
- Costly compared to other alternatives
- Basic plan only accomodates 100 webinar attendees
- Requires presenters and participants to download specific software to be able to use platform
GoTo Webinar is one of the longest-running webinar platforms, and it sells reliability at scale rather than the newest features. If you are running regular webinars for hundreds of attendees and the cost of a technical failure is high, that track record is what you are paying for. If you are running your first webinar for forty people, it is an expensive way to do it.
- What it is: Webinar and virtual event software with registration, automated email sequences, polls, Q&A, analytics, and attendee-facing simplicity.
- Best for: Marketing, training, and enablement teams running webinars regularly at 500+ attendee scale, particularly in enterprise and regulated environments.
- Pricing: Reach $59/month and Elevate $103/month billed annually ($69 and $129 monthly). Complete is custom. A 7-day free trial, no free plan. Verified on GoTo’s pricing page in July 2026.
- The honest catch: Cloud recording, arguably the most basic webinar feature there is, sits on Elevate rather than the entry plan. For most buyers that makes $103/month the real starting price.
What Is GoTo Webinar?
GoTo Webinar launched in 2006 as part of the Citrix GoTo family, later spun out into GoTo as an independent company alongside GoTo Meeting, GoTo Training, and the LogMeIn products. That two-decade history matters more here than in most software categories, because a webinar fails publicly and in real time, and buyers with an audience watching tend to weight reliability above feature count.
The product is built around a straightforward loop: create a registration page, drive signups, send automated reminders, run the event with engagement tools, then follow up with recordings and analytics. It does that loop well and has done it for a long time. What it does not do is compete on innovation with newer platforms that ship more aggressively.
The independent ratings are respectable but not uniformly glowing, and the gap between them is instructive: 4.5 out of 5 on Capterra across 2,073 reviews, but roughly 4.2 out of 5 on G2 across about 801 reviews. Reviewers consistently praise attendee-side ease and large-audience handling, and consistently raise cost and occasional audio and video problems.
How GoTo Webinar Works
- Registration and promotion. Custom registration pages, automated confirmation and reminder emails, and source tracking so you can see which channel produced which registrants. The email automation is mature and is the part marketing teams rely on most.
- Running the event. Presenter tools, screen sharing, polls, surveys, live Q&A, and handouts. Attendees join without installing anything, which reviewers repeatedly call out as a genuine advantage with non-technical audiences.
- Recording and reuse. Cloud recordings on Elevate and above, plus the ability to run a recording as a live event, which is the simulive pattern used for repeatable demand-generation webinars.
- Analytics. Attendance, engagement, and drop-off reporting, plus registration source tracking on the Complete tier, with integrations into HubSpot and Salesforce that reviewers describe as reliable.
- Scale. 500 participants on Reach, 1,000 on Elevate, and up to 3,000 on Complete, with live streaming to unlimited attendees at the top tier.
In 2026 the notable additions are AI summaries and transcripts on Elevate, and breakout rooms. Both are useful, though neither is unique at this price point any more.
GoTo Webinar Pricing
Pricing is per organizer seat and gated primarily on participant count. Figures verified in USD on GoTo’s webinar pricing page in July 2026.
| Plan | Annual (per mo) | Monthly | Participants | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reach | $59 | $69 | 500 | 1 organizer seat, reporting and analytics, automated reminders and follow-ups, polls and live Q&A, mobile hosting |
| Elevate | $103 | $129 | 1,000 | Branded webinars and custom URLs, cloud recordings, AI summaries and transcripts, recordings as live events, breakout rooms |
| Complete | Custom | Custom | 3,000 | Custom organizer seats, live streaming to unlimited attendees, paid events and certified training, GoTo Meeting license, registration source tracking |
The things that change the calculation:
- Cloud recording starts on Elevate. This is the single most important detail in the pricing. Recording a webinar is table stakes, and putting it on the middle tier effectively makes $103/month the entry price for most buyers rather than $59.
- Branding also starts on Elevate. Custom URLs and branded webinars are not on Reach, which matters if the webinar is a marketing asset representing your company.
- Annual billing saves 14% to 20%. Reach drops from $69 to $59 and Elevate from $129 to $103, so the discount is larger on the plan most people need.
- Per-organizer, not per-attendee. Reach includes one organizer seat. Multiple hosts running independent webinars means multiple seats, which climbs quickly.
- There is no free plan. The trial is 7 days with no credit card required, which is short. Plan the webinar you want to test before you start the clock.
Who Should Use GoTo Webinar
- Teams running webinars as a regular programme. The registration, reminder, and follow-up automation is genuinely mature, and it is the difference between a webinar that fills and one that does not.
- Organizations with large or non-technical audiences. No-download attendee joining and proven handling of 500 to 3,000 participants are real strengths.
- Enterprise and regulated buyers. A long track record, established security posture, and reliable HubSpot and Salesforce integrations matter when procurement is involved.
- Training and certification teams. Paid events and certified training on the Complete tier, plus the sibling GoTo Training product, cover a use case most webinar tools ignore.
It is a weak fit for solo creators, small businesses running occasional webinars, and anyone whose priority is marketing-funnel features like evergreen automated webinars. In those cases you are paying enterprise prices for capabilities you will not use, and the alternatives below serve you better.
Honest Pros and Cons
Strengths
- Reliability at scale is the core proposition. Two decades of running large events shows in a platform that handles hundreds of attendees without drama.
- Attendees do not need to install anything. Repeatedly praised in reviews, and it directly reduces the number of people who register but fail to attend.
- Mature email automation. Registration, reminders, and follow-ups are well built and are the operational backbone of a recurring webinar programme.
- Solid integrations. HubSpot and Salesforce connections are described as seamless by reviewers, which matters for lead routing.
- Simulive. Running a recording as a live event is a genuinely useful pattern for repeatable demand generation, though it requires Elevate.
Limitations
- Expensive relative to the category. The most common complaint in independent reviews, especially from small businesses. Competitors deliver comparable core functionality for less.
- Recording is gated to the middle tier. Hard to defend, and it materially changes the real entry price.
- Occasional audio and video problems. Some reviewers report technical issues serious enough to have driven them to competitors. Not universal, but it appears often enough to note.
- Limited branding and customization. Reviewers want more control over branding and more editing options for pre-recorded content.
- A 7-day trial is short. Barely enough to plan, promote, and run a real webinar, which is the only meaningful test.
- Fewer marketing-funnel features. Evergreen and automated webinar funnels are weaker here than in tools built specifically for that job.
GoTo Webinar Alternatives and How It Compares
- Demio is the strongest comparison for marketing teams. Browser-based, cleaner interface, better suited to demand generation, and generally cheaper.
- Livestorm is browser-based with a genuinely usable free tier and strong analytics, and it appeals to teams that find GoTo’s interface dated.
- WebinarJam targets marketers and online sellers, with strong funnel and evergreen features through EverWebinar, at the cost of a busier interface.
- ClickMeeting is a lower-cost, flexible European alternative worth comparing if data residency matters.
- Zoho Meeting is dramatically cheaper and adequate for straightforward webinars, particularly if you already use Zoho.
- Zoom Webinars is the default comparison for organizations already standardized on Zoom, and often wins on price and familiarity alone.

The Verdict
GoTo Webinar is a dependable, well-integrated platform that earns its place with organizations for whom a failed webinar is a serious problem. The registration and email automation is mature, attendees join without friction, and large audiences are handled without incident. The 4.5/5 Capterra rating across more than 2,000 reviews reflects a product that does the fundamentals well.
The pricing is the sticking point, and specifically the decision to put cloud recording on the middle tier. Once you accept that Elevate at $103/month is the realistic entry point, GoTo Webinar is expensive against a field where Demio, Livestorm, and ClickMeeting deliver comparable core functionality for less. The honest answer is that you are paying for reliability and enterprise-readiness, and whether that premium is worth it depends entirely on what a failed event would cost you.
If you run a serious, recurring webinar programme in an organization that cares about vendor stability and Salesforce integration, this is a defensible choice. If you are a small team or a creator building a marketing funnel, Demio or WebinarJam will serve you better for less money. Whichever way you lean, plan your test webinar before starting the 7-day trial, because it is too short to waste.
FAQ
Is there a free version of GoTo Webinar?
No. GoTo Webinar offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, but there is no permanent free plan. Paid plans start at $59/month billed annually. If a free tier is important, Livestorm offers one with limited attendee and duration caps.
How much does GoTo Webinar cost in 2026?
Reach is $59/month billed annually or $69 billed monthly, and supports up to 500 participants. Elevate is $103/month billed annually or $129 monthly, and supports up to 1,000 participants. Complete is custom priced and supports up to 3,000 participants with live streaming to unlimited attendees.
Does GoTo Webinar record webinars?
Yes, but cloud recording is only available on the Elevate plan and above, not on the entry-level Reach plan. Since recording is a basic requirement for most webinar programmes, this effectively makes Elevate at $103/month the practical starting tier rather than the advertised $59.
How many attendees can GoTo Webinar handle?
Reach supports up to 500 participants, Elevate up to 1,000, and Complete up to 3,000, with the option to live stream to unlimited attendees on the Complete tier. Participant capacity is the main dimension the plans are gated on.
What is GoTo Webinar best for?
Organizations running webinars as a regular programme at meaningful scale, where reliability, mature registration and reminder automation, and CRM integration matter more than the newest features or the lowest price. It is particularly well suited to training, enablement, and enterprise marketing teams.

I love how easy and versatile this tool is to use. Great for small and Large meetings and I love that the moderator is able to control how interactive the meeting should or should not be.
Its been a little while since I have used this product the only thing I can remember not liking is the lag time that would occasionally occur during a video chat, however, I couldn't exclusively say it was this product it may have been the connectivity.
This helped bridge distance, connecting employees who worked remotely or across the country.
I like that this software allows its users to invite multiple people to join in on a session, rather than just 1 or 2. It's also very easy to use and navigate. I like that I can also share my screen, documents, and presentations with just a click of a button.
Sometimes the software will lag; however, this problem might be due to internet connection rather than the software itself.
This software has made it easy to connect with others in different states and countries, especially when time zones are different.
I love to use this tool when I am trying to communicate with members of my team or others in the company instead of formal meetings. This is also a great tool to use to consult with customers over the internet.
Nothing, great product. Love the features and it is wonderfully convenient.
It saves time when you need to consult team members or have a quick meeting without getting together. Also a great tool for consulting customers.

GoToWebinar is easy to set up and access from any computer.
I think some of the features could be more intuitive. It has a lot of cool capabilities, but sometimes you have to dig for them. I spend a lot of time training internal members of my team on how to use it.
We are a consulting business that works with clients who are not local and so we often give presentations remotely. It makes things very easy for us.
GoToWebinar is by far the most seamless and intuitive learning interface available currently. We frequently use GTW for hosting and attending learning webinars for our company. It makes learning an across-location offering thereby maximizing scope for participation. The features of participation include an interactive chatbox, Q&A dialogue box, hand-raise options plus the regular presentation screen. Very useful!
We root firmly for GoToWebinar as a must have for organizations who value training their geographiclly dispersed workforce.
We use GoToWebinar to organize and attend Topic-based webinars for cross-location audiences within the company. It's a very cost-effective solution and helps us deliver training right!
The integration with hubspot saves me hours from creating Confirmation and a series of reminder emails. The workflows are simple to create using an marketing automation tool. the reporting aspect of the platform allows me to share the critical data from webinars!
It would be helpful for me to view how long a person viewed the webinar recording ex. first 5 mins or only viewed 20mins out of 60.
We are using less marketing staff resources to create manual confirmation, reminder emails!
Ability to give presentations from anywhere.
There is a slight lag when engaging in converaation.
Able to share ideas quickly with people all over the world.
GoToWebinar has an easy to use interface and allows seamless presentation capabilities
At times firewalls and other midstream elements can prevent this solution for working to the entire audience,
Presentation of information to large audiences that are normally very geographically dispersed.
It's actually the only app I used for that purpose and it provided all required features
No issues at all. Always working properly without any lagging. One time there was some bug with connection from google calendar, but it was fixed.
When we need to meet with customers or partners in live and show them some of our features or discuss tasks or collaborations with business partners, we always use GoToWebinar for that, expecially when a lot of people should be added.
I enjoy attending webinars through GoToWebinar because the interface is modern, user-friendly, and reliable. I have never had my connection cut, and I always understand who is speaking, what is going on in the webinar, and what is being shown to me. The installation process for the simple software used to attend webinars via GoToWebinar is also quick and easy to install on both Windows and Mac.
Sometimes the audio in the webinars I attend cuts out or becomes choppy. I am not sure if this is an issue on the webinar organizers' end, or on GoToWebinar's end.
As a remote employee with a unique schedule, GoToWebinar has made it easy for me to attend webinars on-the-go and in various locations. I am also able to complete light work tasks while attending a webinar if needed, given the user-friendly interface of the software.
GotoWebinar is a tool that allows you to broadcast your webinars and live presentations in an easy way. I´m amazed at how easy to use is GotoWebinar: I only need to add a title and a description for my webinar presentation, then decide if the presentation will be a one-time show or if it will be held during multiple sessions, finally I can select the time of the session as well as the language, and I´m ready to start inviting attendees, and all of this is really easy to do! I also love that I can record my live presentations easily.
The one thing I dislike about GotoWebinar is that I think it´s a bit overpriced. I mean, 89 American dollars per month is a bit high for average users. Also, sometimes it takes a bit of time to start running smoothly, and this is quite a letdown at times. Having said this,If you can really afford the monthly fee, and you´re a heavy user of live web presentations for up to 100 participants, then go ahead and get GotoWebinar because its features are amazing.
If you can communicate directly to your audience, then you´re achieving the dream of every business. And that´s what GotoWebinar helps me achieve: I can talk to my audience directly, face-to-face, in real-time, in a fast and effective way. I´m still building my own home business, but I think that this technology makes it easy for any type of business to get recognized and trusted in a fast and reliable manner.
I really enjoy using this software. It’s very intuitive and easy to use.
I don’t actually have any complaints. It’s a great program.
This program helps us with demonstrations and meetings.
Users are able to log on very easily especially if they have been on a GoToMeeting with us in the past.
It would be nice if the software as web based and our attendees didn't need to download anything.
We are able to host an event and discuss pressing topics in a timely manner. This form of outreach has given us the ability communicate ideas that our attendees find useful.
Software installs quickly, fast login, easy to use.
There is nothing at this time I would change.
Client billing software
I attend many webinars, and those hosted on the GoToWebinar/GoToMeeting platform are my favorite. Simple, intuitive and rarely have issues. I've also worked with a team to host a couple webinars using the platform, and it was also a pleasurable experience.
I haven't encountered any notable issues while using GoToWebinar.
Attending and hosting information webinars. Easier and more efficient than planning and hosting in-person meetings.
GoToWebinar is easy to manage, even on the fly when presenting in front of large groups. Switching between screens, managing questions and presenting are seamless and simple to master.
Connectivity can be an issue if you're internet connection isn't blazing fast - but this could be said of any webinar software on the market.
Sales promotion events, large group trainings, all of our presentations to our users are done through GoToWebinar. Even simple group gatherings are easier to manage when using the interface.
The communication - since everyone is looking at the same thing, there is less chance for incorrect information.
I haven't encountered any problems while using this.
None
I find that most people can easily access go to Webinar without platform issues
nothing, never had an issue with connecting or with other attendees
Meet with other team members in remote sites has been a lot easier with this. With other programs like skype etc, a lot of connection issues prevented productive meetings. Goto webinar is great
I like how intuitive GoToWebinar is to use. I host weekly webinars and GoToWebinar make it easy to set up and host the webinars. I've been able to interact with my subscribers through it and educate them on our product in a way that I just couldn't without a software like GoToWebinar.
I wish it was easier to talk to people during the webinar if they wanted. The question/chat boxes are great, but sometimes it would be easier to be able to talk to them without having to go through and unmute everybody individually.
We use GoToWebinar to connect our subscribers and to educate them on the platform we provide. With GoToWebinar we are able to share our screen with them so that they can see what we're doing.

I don't really have anything that I dislike about GoToWebinar.

The user interface is simple and easy to navigate through. We enjoy the video sharing.
We would like to be able to customize this more. Also downloading on some computers require OS updates.

GoToWebinar is an easy way to conduct business online, from meetings to trainings. It's a simple process to set up and get started.
Nothing, really. It's pretty straightforward.
Training, national meetings, remote collaboration.
Our law firm utilizes Go To Webinar to hold client meetings and generally collaborate when an in-person meeting is not convenient for our clients. It is the most reliable and user-friendly product on the market today. Also, the fact that this product is incredibly reliable is a feature that we demand out of this product, particularly when giving live webinars or client meetings. Go To Webinar certainly exceeds our expectations, and we could not ask for more from a similar product. I would highly recommend Go To Webinar for any organization that demands reliability, ease of use, and an audience capacity that exceeds what is needed. If your company needs a program to both give live webinars and hold virtual client meetings, Go To Webinar has it all.
The first time that a client or someone in our organization uses Go To Webinar, it can take them at least one practice session to be comfortable enough with the software to be prepared for putting on a live webinar.
Many of our clients are quite busy. Many have young children, and it makes meeting in downtown San Francisco a burden. Go To Webinar allows us to hold virtual face-to-face meetings, with the added convenience of our clients not needing to leave his or her home.
I like that you can plan numerous meetings at one time and control all meeting functions as the host.
I dislike that you have to pay for so many people to have access to create their own meetings.
I like that it holds up to 50+ people in a meeting and that you can mute everyone and they have the ability to self-made. It's beneficial for quick meetings.
I like the ability to share screens and have a large discussion or have panelist/speakers present about a certain topic.
The little bugs here and there. Not as many as there used to be but today the presenter cut out as if she was muted and no one could hear her. Not sure if that was a GTW problem or if her connection was spotty.
Connectivity. It's great to get in contact with the out of office coworkers.
I like being able to attend a webinar from anywhere, either through my computer or phone, and receive valuable information that a company is trying to present to me.
I cannot think of any dislikes about this software.
We are able to prepare and view presentations and invite clients or colleagues to join.
